Friday Fancies: Polka Dot Love

This week's Friday's Fancies focuses on one of my all time favorite patterns, the polka dot! I was going to try and create an outfit for you guys, but a look full of polka dots seemed a bit absurd. So this a board of some polka dot pieces I'm loving this spring.

Polka Dot Love

Marchesa polka dot dress / R k originals dress / Polka dot blouse / TOMS red shoes / Kate Spade patent leather bag / Betsey Johnson white watch / Betsey Johnson post earrings / Kate Spade wool shawl

So, what do you think? I'm kind of obsessed with the new Marchesa line at JCP. Have y'all checked it out yet? The black dress is one of my favorites for sure. I am loving the subtle polka dot mesh neckline.

Plus I'm pretty sure I'm going to add those TOMS to my collection.

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend! I'm going to be hanging out with the crew. #dcCallie is here and team lawfully wedded wife is coming to. DC's not ready for us, that I can promise you.

Color Crush: Linen

With spring officially here, I'm loving transitioning out of my darker clothes into something a little brighter. But sometimes I can go a little overboard with the color.

That's why for this installment of color crush, I'm loving Linen. It's enough of a color to not completely wash me out, but still is a classy neutral for a new season.

Color Crush: Linen

Oasis low v neck dress/ Alexander McQueen cocktail dress / Pencil skirt/ Rebecca Minkoff handbag / DKNY tote / Burberry jewelry / Summer Look 58 / Fine jewelry

I love that shirt dress, and almost picked one up this weekend at Nordstrom Rack. I'm still thinking about it... so I may have to go back. I'm also loving the idea of a linen colored bag for spring.

What color are you loving so far this season?

Friday's Fancies: Pretty in Pastels

While Spring is itching to arrive in DC, easter is here! And you know what that means... Easter dresses and lots of candy. Since I won't have an easter basket this year, I'd much prefer that the Easter bunny bring me a basket full of these goodies.

I did a slightly brighter take on "Pretty in Pastel" but I absolutely love it. Plus I threw in a little color blocking, and who doesn't love that? No one. duh.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Let me know what you get in your easter basket!

Sketchy Art

Lately I've been looking for a new way to spruce up the house and fill up some empty frames. I'm loving the idea of fashion sketches as art. They are beyond gorgeous, and so much fun!  Here are a few I've been crushing lately (I've even ordered a few of these!)

Friday's Fancies

Well, it's offically the third day of spring. But no one seems to have let mother nature know, because goodness has it been chilly in DC this week. We even had snow! So as much as I'm itching to put away my winter clothes for good, I may need to postpone that project for a few more weeks. Understandably, I think you'll forgive me for planning two outfits. One for this cooler weather we've been having, and one a little better for a 70 degree day.

Spring has Sprung

River Island dress, $98 / Full Tilt elbow sleeve top / Maison Kitsuné / River Island light pink pants, $23 / Libby Edelman shoes / Betsey Johnson / White House Black Market jewelry

Have a fabulous weekend ladies!

Color Crush: African Violet and Google Reader

UPDATE: So before we get on to the main show, I'm late on this whole google reader/gfc retirement. I, like so many of you, am furious with this development. I have only 1/6 of my readers on bloglovin... so this is a hit to say the least! I had several other feed sources linked to my reader, so I'm not sure if I'm going to make the transition to bloglovin or another rss feed reader like feedly. What are y'all planning on doing?

In the meantime, I'm adding all of my blogs to blog lovin so I don't lose anyone! So add me! I have a button over on the side (looks like the feed button, but it's really bloglovin... I should probably change that) or just click here.

Follow on Bloglovin

For my next installation of color crush I'm featuring African Violet. This is such a pretty color and makes me so ready for spring time!

African Violet

How pretty is that Oscar de la Renta dress? Oh my goodness. I'm absolutely dying, in love. I want to wear it every day and twirl around Capitol Hill.

Growing up I was more of a pink girl, as opposed to a purple one. In my house there were three girls and we were each "assigned" colors to differentiate between our possessions. My color was pink, Sara's was purple, and Beckie got whatever the other option was. Ha. Sucks to be the youngest. Now that I think back on it, those assignments were even reflected in the walls of our rooms. Mine was pepto-pink and I loved it. Sara's was a lavender, and Beckie had white/blue.

Anyways, back to African Violet. I've totally been crushing on this color lately. I love it paired with Emerald. Anyone else?

So what are you feeling currently?

Springtime Shopping

Well, if your weekend weather was anything like mine, you know that spring is here! We are in the glorious part of spring with warmer weather but no pollen yet, so I actually got to go outside without having an asthma attack. It's the small things in life, right?

Anyways, now that my shopping freeze is officially over I've started compiling a list of pretties I'd love to invest in this spring.

Spring 1

Clearly there is some pattern here. Black. White. Pastels. I'm so loving soft springy colors right now, and I love the classic black and white combo (especially in stripe form).

I wrote about watch in a Friday's Fancy post a few weeks ago, and I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. Should I make the switch to a leather watch?

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Happy Monday!

Friday's Fancies

Wow... did this week feel crazy long? or is it just me? No matter. Friday is here! One more day of work then I'm free and have a super fun weekend planned. Plus spring is well on it's way! Sunday is going to be 58 and sunny! YES!

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Lace Love. Now I know what your going to say... this dress doesn't look lacy... more shiny. I know, I know the sequin has made another appearance. But when I saw this dress by Dorothy Perkins, how could I say no? Lace and sparkle in one? Yes ma'am.

I was a little conflicted on how to style it, so I went two ways. Day and Night (because a sequin/lacy dress is totally appropriate for work).

I'm so loving the metallic cap toe look... I picked essentially the same shoe, I'm okay with it. And that watch? Oh my gosh. Don't get me wrong, I love my chunky Micheal Kors, but it may be time to branch out a bit... and my birthday is only 7 weeks away. Hmm. Anyways, hope y'all have a fabulous weekend! If you want to follow along find me on instagram or twitter.

Brunchable

A few weeks ago I went to brunch with Betsy, Brea and Jaime
The girls were nice enough to take a few snaps of my outfit.
Dress: LOFT | Cardigan: H&M | Trench: TJ Maxx | Bag: Kate Spade | Necklace: Gift

Remember when I bought my self a little present for getting in to law school? Well... here she is. My ridiculously large, gorgeous kate spade bag. Perfect for toting around a few heavy books right?
Watch out law school.

On a completely unrelated note, my spending freeze is over!!! YAY! whew. That was TOUGH.
But my bank account sure is happy

Friday's Fancies #21: Bling Bling

Now this week's Friday's Fancies is a theme I can get behind. Bling Bling. It's all about the jewelry! So I'm combining a few things I love. 1. Kate Spade. 2 Jewelry. 3. Mint (which many have to be my next color crush).

We've had some slightly warmer weather here in DC and now I'm dying for spring to hurry up and get here.

Bling Bling Kate Spade

I'm so loving all things kate spade lately--- well lets be honest, I'm always loving all things kate spade. What's your latest obsession?

Hope you gals have a fabulous weekend!!!

Oscar Fashion

I was beyond obsessed with the red carpet last night. I mean the ladies really brought it. Old hollywood glam at its finest.

My pick for best dressed is:
Jessica Chastain

Her dress was simply perfection. The hair. The lips. And you know I've always got to root for the pale girls! Absolutely stunning.

Charlize Theron
I don't know about y'all, but I was kind of obsessed with her hair.  I also loved that she kept it simple up top. No crazy necklace or earrings. She let the dress do all the talking.

Naomi Watts
I mean wow. The sparkle and the neckline. She absolutely killed it. KILLED IT.

Jennifer Hudson
I love this sparkle. The hair was a tad bit long for my taste, but the dress is gorgeous.

Amy Adams
Well that is a dress. We all know that I love grey... and fluffy ruffles? Obsessed. I wish she would have gone with a bright lip just for a pop of color, but everything else was gorgeous!

Oliva Munn
I love a red dress on the red carpet. The corset on this Marchesa gown was just absolute perfection, with love how she was styled.

Nicole Kidman
I am obsessed with all of this sparkle. She looked absolutely stunning.

Reese Witherspoon
Is there anything better than a gorgeous blonde in a beautiful blue dress? As a blonde who often wears royal blue, I don't think so. Reese looked perfect.

Also. I had a fabulous blogger weekend. I hung out with Lauren on Friday and Saturday. Jaime, Besty and Brea for Sunday brunch. Then coffee with Alana. All of it was perfect. Please go be their new bffs, because I'm officially more obsessed with each of them.

Friday's Fanices #20: Red Carpet Ready

Friday's Fancies is here again, Yay! And this one may be my favorite to date, why you ask? Isn't this what all of us "fashion bloggers" dream about? Dressing for the red carpet? I know I do. I love reading posts of over the top hair, lusting over stunning makeup far too dark for everyday. and then there's the sparkle aspect. Lord knows I'm obsessed with sparkle and glitter (not quite sure when I became that girl, but I'm okay with it) and aren't sparkly jewels kind of a red carpet requirement? I think so.

Red Carpet Ready

If there was ever a Friday's Fancies to go all out this is it. I mean, come on gal's this is the oscars. This is probably this most expensive outfit I've ever put together... but it's one of my favorites too. This weekend we will see hollywood glam at it's finest, and when I saw this dress I couldn't help but gasp. Grey. Sparkle. Vintage. Glamor. What more could you ask for? I wanted this dress to be the spotlight of the whole look, so I went with neutral accessories. Beautiful grey pumps. Just enough vintage jewelry with out over doing it. Plus just a hint of color with the clutch.

A beautiful intricate up-do and a perfectly crafted smokey eye. I'm dying. I need this outfit. Can I please go to the oscars and wear this? I'm sure I could give Anne Hathaway a run for her money.

So what do you lovelies have in store for the weekend? This girl and her hubby are in town tonight, but other than that I'm not sure. I feel like I need to take advantage of living in dc more... so I may go be a tourist... who knows.  Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!

Color Crush: Poppy Red

I'm still loving all the pantone colors of 2013. After talking about Emerald, Dusk Blue and Grayed Jade I'm jumping to the other end of the spectrum: Poppy Red.

I went to The University of Georgia, our colors are red and black, so red has a special place in my heart. Not to mention my closet. By the time I graduated I'd managed to build up quite the collection of red clothing. Unfortunately they were mostly t-shirts and a few gameday dresses, so I haven't had many chances to wear the color since. Lately I've been feeling the urge to invest in a few new items. I picked up a poppy red coat last year, and its so lovely. A few new accessories and I'll be set.

Friday's Fancies #19: Pink and Red

Happy Friday Gals! Is it just me or was this week brutal? Ugh. So glad it's almost over! I'm loving today's theme of pink and red, a combo. Y'all know I can't resist a sequin!

Pink and Red

Also--- Thanks to Kat for consulting with me on this outfit.

No big plans for the weekend. Just going to galavant around the city enjoying this lovely icy snowy weather. Fun times.

Happy Weekend Gals

Perfectly Pink

Happy Valentines Day Week! All this week I am going to feature some of my favorite fashions that come in the lovely color pink!

perfectly pink

 1/2/3/4/5

Did y'all survive Mardi Gras last night? I'm not a cool as my blog might suggest. I didn't even end up drinking all night. I know. What is wrong with me? Well... I have good reason. I was hard at work on my fancy new scarf! I made a pretty chiffon infinity scarf from some fabric I picked up after class on Monday. I've already made a tote bag, and am working on some pajama pants, but this scarf was my first totally solo project! I'm kind of obsessed with how easy it was, and will probably be making a million more in the coming weeks! Yay!!!

What do you think? I'm kind of obsessed!

Happy Wednesday!

Grammy Gorgeous

Did you watch the Grammy's last night? I DVR'd it and fast forwarded through the majority. Ha. Priorities people. Real Housewives of Atlanta was on too! How do you choose? Anyways, I wanted to recap some of my favorite red carpet looks, but I have to say I was terribly underwhelmed. I'm not really a fan of the high slit and it seemed like ever psuedo star and her sister were rocking the look.  No thank you.

So here are my top three looks of the night. I'm normally a color fan on the carpet, but for some reason all three of these looks are dark.

Loved the deep sparkle of Carly Rae Jepsen's beautiful gown and the deco elements of the beading on the top. So pretty.

Carrie Underwood rocked a very similar silhouette, So loving the lace details, her classic hair and flawless makeup. Nailed it.

I seriously think this was the first time I've ever seen Kelly Osborne and actually gasped at how beautiful she looked. First of all, this dress is so flattering on her, and she looks SO skinny! But I love how she styled it with minimal hair and just enough jewelery to really let her gorgeous figure come to the forefront as the star of the look.

So what did y'all think? Who were your grammy favorites?
