Friday's Fancies: City Style New Orleans Edition

Hi Friends! Remember me? Yah, it's been a while, I know. But I've wrapped up practice exams, and I decided to have a lame Halloween, so I could say in and read. Well after a long day I decided there is nothing more I'd love to do that put together a friday's fanices look for y'all!

Now that I've been a New Orleanian for a few months, I'm starting to really love this city. And let me tell you, this city loves to do it up big. Everything they do is bigger and better, and lord knows there are always plenty of sazeracs to go around.

So I'm thinking the perfect city style look for this town has to be a mardi gras ball look.

Friday Fancies: Happy 150th!

Congratulations to the lovely Alison for hosting my favorite link up, 150 times! Can you believe it??? In celebration of 150 weeks, this week we are celebrating with our fall finest for a party! This fall I'm loving the touches of leather everywhere.

Friday's Fancies: Football Fashion

Is anyone else doing a little happy dance because it's Friday? Man let me tell you, these weeks certainly feel long and unfortunately I'm in for a very long weekend of work. I signed up for this right? Oh yep, I certainly did.  Thankfully there's no UGA game this weekend, so I wont miss much spending the weekend in the law library. But if I was going to a game this weekend, I'd definitely be wearing this gorgeous dress.

Friday Fancies: Transitioning to Fall

While it still feels like the height of summer down here in New Orleans I'm told fall is on it's way... one day. Fall was one of my favorite things about living in DC and I'm already missing pulling out my scarves in preparation for those crisp fall days. So those of you in a more northern locale get to transition your summer pieces to fall, I'll still be here, rocking in the Louisiana heat.

Friday's Fancies: Rainbow Sherbet

Happy Friday Friends! I'm hanging out in Atlanta and having a fabulous time hanging in my hometown. Last night we had a slumber party with my favorite 10 year old and she helped me cultivate today's look. This week our #FF theme is summer treats, and I only had to think for about 3 seconds for my favorite summer treat. Rainbow Sherbet! Duh. So we took the treat theme quite literally and cultivated the most colorful outfit ever! Hey, if you can't wear this when you're ten you'll probably never wear it right?

Friday's Fancies: Tank Top and Tangerine

Well y'all, we've made it once again! Another week down. This summer is absolutely flying by! I only have THREE WEEKS left in DC and I'm crazy excited about these last few adventures I'm going to have in my favorite city (hopefully the weather behaves).  Now for this week's Friday's Fancies theme is "Tanked" and we are all professing our love of tank tops. Now, I'm going to be honest with y'all, I'm not much of a fan of those loose slouchy tank tops that the hipsters seem to love. So I went a little more preppy with my look, I hope y'all approve.

Friday's Fancies: Fourth Fun

Hope y'all all had a great fourth yesterday! I spent my day relaxing, watching baseball, drinking beer, watching fireworks and being kept up late into the night with "bombs bursting in air" seemingly right outside my window.

Friday's Fancies: Summer Wish List-- Target Maxi Dresses

Greetings! As you read this, I'm on the road to New Orleans for a little weekend visit with my Mom. So far my little vacation has been lovely (minus the crazy early mornings two days in a row). Today marks the first official day of summer, and let me tell you it feels like it! DC has still been cool, but Arkansas and Louisiana are quite warm, let me tell you.

For this week's Friday's Fancies theme we are discussing our summer wish list. Mine is long, but since I'm moving I've put myself on a spending freeze! I don't want to have to move anything extra! Whatever doesn't fit in my Jetta isn't going to make it with me to NOLA.  I have been lusting over one piece... and I think I could make an exception to the spending freeze. Is it just me, or did that week just fly by? Time seems to just keep moving faster and faster. While it's overcast and rainy thanks to that pesky storm Andrea. While I don't mind the cooler weather and rain, I would like to break out my sunglasses this weekend.

Gilded Stripes

Well folks, we made it once again! Happy Friday! I can tell already this summer is just going to fly by (yay/sad).  This week has been an absolute whirlwind and I really don't know where the time keeps going! But anyways, let's talk about more exciting things like Friday's Fancies. I decided to go a bit more formal for Friday's Fancies this week. While the theme was stripes, I seemed to be craving any and everything gold.

Oh my gosh y'all! somehow I forgot to do a little link love this week! How did that happen? Maybe because I stayed up entirely too late last night watching the epic office series finale. Before we get to link love can we just talk about the office for a minute? Oh my gosh, I'm so sad. I was a little disappointed with the ending, but I think that's more in the fact that it's ending not so much the writing. I was definitely great to see the whole gang together one last time and get some resolutions for so many of my favorites. Seriously. Thursday nights are never going to be the same. 

Okay, enough ranting about TV. Link Love time. 

• Now that summer weather is quickly approaching I've been craving fruit like crazy. This teriyaki chicken with strawberry mango salsa sounds right up my alley. 
• Anyone in need of a few good DIY ideas? Design Crush pulled together some great ones this week. 
• I am not the best about cleaning my makeup brushes, but I would say it realistically happens every 3-4 weeks. This is a great guide on how to not only clean, but sanitize your makeup brushes. 
• It's friday, obviously time for a cocktail tonight and this one sounds so perfect.
• I am officially half way through my twenties, scary. I loved this cheat sheet for winning at life in your 20's. Definitely some lessons to learn. 
• Not that I need to do any more shopping, but I loved each and every one of these shops featured on Dooley Noted Style this week.

Friday's Fancies

Wow. I cannot believe it's Friday yet again! The days seem so long, but the weeks are short. This week marked the 100 days to law school count down. Can you believe it? I certainly can't.

Lately I've been itching to embrace my inner hipster on the weekends. I think it's my new camera, I feel  so much "cooler" if I dress the part of a hipster photographer as I try to learn how to take a decent picture.

What's more comfortable than a flowy maxi dress and some havainas for walking around the farmers market? Yoga pants, but that's not chic enough for Friday's Fancies.

• I'm always trying new face masques but after this review I think I may have found a new favorite. Have y'all ever tried something like this? Let me know.

• Lately I've been loving getting tips on how to be a better blogger. I've fallen into a bit of a blogger rut, so in an effort to change things up I'm following all of Sarah's tips.

• This Lemon Basil Jello definitely peaked my interest this week. One of my favorite flavor combos in squishy form? I'm in. 

• The Beauty Department is one of my go-to's for any and everything hair and beauty. I loved this tutorial for soft waves. This actually inspired my hair yesterday. Super duper easy. 

• Two of my favorite beauty bloggers in once place this week? Loved it!!! 

• Finally I could not get over this series on Apartment Therapy. How cute is this little apartment? I'm taking notes.

Friday's Fancies: Floral Fun

For this week's Friday's Fancies we are featuring our favorite florals for spring. Personally I'm not a huge fan of floral prints, but I'm trying. I came across this gorgeous pink top from j crew and I knew it would be the perfect piece to build a floral outfit around. The only problem? I've fallen for too many floral pieces! Who knew?

On the left I feel like the shoes steal the show, but with some bright color blocking and a gorgeous kate spade watch I think it balances well. But if you wore this outfit you certainly couldn't be afraid of color!

On the right the floral combo is a little more traditional. Add in some fabulous flats, a little sparkle (y'all know I had to) and a fun bangle and you're all set for a spring brunch.

Friday's Fancies

I've been doing some thinking lately. Since I'm going to be moving to a whole new city where I don't know anyone, I'm going to have a completely fresh start. If I want to, I can totally reinvent myself. So who do I want to be as a law student? I'm not sure, but it's made me realize that I want to push myself out of my comfort zone.

This look is a tad on the edgy side for me (which is a look I rarely embrace), growth right?

Friday's Fancies: Pop of Neon

I'm not going to lie. I've not been the biggest fan of the neon trend. While my personal style is pretty colorful, neon just strikes me as a bit abrasive. Needless to say when I saw this week's topic I made it my mission to find a neon look I would actually wear.

Friday's Fancies

Well, it's offically the third day of spring. But no one seems to have let mother nature know, because goodness has it been chilly in DC this week. We even had snow! So as much as I'm itching to put away my winter clothes for good, I may need to postpone that project for a few more weeks. Understandably, I think you'll forgive me for planning two outfits. One for this cooler weather we've been having, and one a little better for a 70 degree day.

Happy Birthday Blue Dog Belle

Well one year ago today I wrote my very first post here. A year later I can't believe how much this blog and my life has changed. I have so many new friends and friendships that I'm sure will last for years to come. I'm actually kind of "in" to fashion now... not something I would have said a year ago. The blog has forced me to focus on what I want in my life, what I don't. It's kept me accountable, and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

Some days I still don't really know why all of you lovelies stop by here and read my opinions on the random happenings in my life, but you keep coming back. For that, I am forever grateful. I'm sure those of you that blog can share in my sentiments.

And seriously, what better day to have a Blogiversary than on my favorite day of the week! Friday's Fancies!

Friday's Fancies

Wow... did this week feel crazy long? or is it just me? No matter. Friday is here! One more day of work then I'm free and have a super fun weekend planned. Plus spring is well on it's way! Sunday is going to be 58 and sunny! YES!

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Lace Love. Now I know what your going to say... this dress doesn't look lacy... more shiny. I know, I know the sequin has made another appearance. But when I saw this dress by Dorothy Perkins, how could I say no? Lace and sparkle in one? Yes ma'am.

I was a little conflicted on how to style it, so I went two ways. Day and Night (because a sequin/lacy dress is totally appropriate for work).

I'm so loving the metallic cap toe look... I picked essentially the same shoe, I'm okay with it. And that watch? Oh my gosh.
