On my mind...

As most of you know, I'm in the throws of deciding where to go to law school. I am often indecisive person when it comes to big life choices, so I can tell y'all I'm absolutely terrified about this decision.

I'm very fortunate that I've been accepted to six pretty great schools, and many of them have given me a considerable amount of financial aid so that's great. But sometimes having options makes things harder. There are so many factors that accompany each school, and multiply that by six (plus five potential additional acceptances), it's becoming a bit overwhelming to say the least. Oh. And I have to decide by April 1.

I'm not quite ready to share what my specific school choices are, but I want to give y'all a few hints. I know that so much of law school will be spent studying, but I'm a city girl and I'm sure I'm going to need some entertainment. So of course I've been doing some research on life in my potential new homes. Some, I know well, others not at all.

Atlanta, Georgia

Columbia, South Carolina

Fairfax, Virginia

New Orleans, Louisiana

Washington, DC

Greensboro, North Carolina

So, have any of y'all lived in any of these places? I'd love to hear your perspective? Where should I stay/go for this next step?

Don't worry, I promise to take y'all with me where ever this endeavor may lead.

I had a friend graduate this past May from law school in Greensboro - I know how much entertainment she requires in her life and it must have supplied because she loved it there. She actually found a job in the city and stayed.

It's clear that you love DC. I think one of the things you're going to have to think about is if you're "done" with DC, at least for now. If it's given you everything it can at this point in your life. If it has, then chose a law school in a different city. If it hasn't then stay. My one major piece of advice is to go to law school where you think you want to practice. That way you can make great contacts!

Haven't lived in any of these places, but I went to law school at Wake which is in Winston-Salem, about 30 minutes from Greensboro. Didn't spend much time there, but I know someone who lives there now and enjoys it. I live in Raleigh now and LOVE it. Lots of great places to live in North Carolina... good food, good weather, nice people!

I have not lived in any of those places but I know from previous school experience when presented with too many options nobody can decide. Its not possible. It is possible to decide between two or three options. You should narrow your choices to make your huge decision a lot easier. You'll can thank me later. :) Esther Norine Designs

Hmmmm I'm from DC and graduated from the dance program of the university in Fairfax, VA so I think I may have an idea of what school you may have gotten accepted into ;) Would love to speak more about it if you want.

I am sure this answer is of no help, but based on the pictures alone: I would pick New Orleans. The picture is too pretty.

I mean, the cherry blossoms are beautiful, but maybe you want something new. You have spent time in DC-- why not explore something new? Is there something keeping you in DC right now? If not, maybe it is the perfect time to jump into a new city. I mean, they may not have awesome sewing classes there... but you can always come back to DC to visit :)

I have no experience with any of them, but I'm excited to see what you pick!

As much as I want to pull for you to come to NC, I don't know of one person who has moved to Greensboro and enjoyed it. I had quite a few friends go to UNCG and not a single one stayed long enough to graduate. All of your other options are so much more fun than Greensboro!

Tom's roommate who went to "your school" in NoLa loved it and said only about 1/3 stay in the state after graduating...he said nationwide networking is pretty good. You should talk to him more! Although, my dream is that you'd stay in DC and that I will also move down there and we can frolic around the district together!

i've never lived in any of those places... but definitely think about where you'd like to live/work after law school. it is much much easier to get a job in the city where you go to school (though a lot of people move and get jobs elsewhere too...) just something else to consider!

Congrats on being accepted to six law schools! All these places seem like great places to live. I'm definitely in favor of you exploring new places. Have an adventure!

Those are all great places! I can see why it's so hard to choose, especially based on location alone!

You know I love Atlanta--but I wish that I had lived in as many places as I could while I was single. I love moving and exploring new places. I would have loved to live in Nola or Columbia. That's just me. Good luck deciding!

UofH has a really good law program, I'm going to vote for NOLA since it is closest to Houston haha.

I'm sorry, I'm no help, but congrats!

I have lived in Fairfax and Washington, but love North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, too. I have family in all three. Would GA be too close to home? Are you ready to say "farewell for now" to Washington? My least favorite on your list would probably be New Orleans, just because I don't enjoy that city as much as the others, but I have a friend in law school in New Orleans who enjoys her courses and professors.

John Marshall is pretty good in Atl:)

Haven't been to any of those places, but that picture of NOLA is divine. I want to be there...

Good luck on your decision!

,,,DC. on second thought LA they have yummy gumbo and crawfish etouffee. make it VA, the birth state of my mama. GA the peach state, choose it. oh for goodness sakes i can't help you decide i prefer all of them. wherever your travels lead you best wishes, study hard (you are going to study, right? right.) and keep us in the loop. wait...what about AZ? not in the running? Such great city choices. You obviously know my preference (ATL!). What a tough decision! There are so many good options, that I'm not sure there is a poor one. Good luck with it!

PS. Can't beat the food in New Orleans :)

Fairfax or DC. The end! :) And...I'm not biased at all!! hehe

But, seriously though, follow your heart. Whatever you feel is the best for you, do that. Only you can make this decision, which is scary, but also incredibly awesome. YOU have this power and no one else does!! Live it up :)

And then choose VA or DC ;) heheh jk

New Orleans hands down. New Orleans has a festival every weekend for something. I was there this weekend and I counted at least 3 festivals celebrating who knows what.
the food is amazing. The people are kind. If you never want to step foot in the French Quarter you don't have to because there is plenty of things do outside of the Quarter.
Loyola and Tulane are right across from the park if you want to go relax or go for a run.
Fun Shopping. Weather is normally ok most of the year.

I would pick school where you want to live after working. Think about where you might like to intern in those cities, because it's highly likely you'll end up with a job offer from one of them in the end.
